“I started playing volleyball in the 6th grade and fell in love with it immediately. It has set a course for my life, and I still can’t get enough of it decades later. Growing up in Austin, I played competitive volleyball at Westwood High School and Austin Juniors. I was fortunate to earn a scholarship to play at Stephen F. Austin State University where I was a 4 year starter as an outside hitter. Highlights of my college volleyball career include 3 conference championships, Academic All-American, All-conference honors and being named to the S.F.A. Hall of Fame. At S.F.A., I also met my supportive and wonderful husband, Kent Wells.
Post college I coached at Rockwall High School and Westwood High School where we were State Runner-up in 1999 and State Champions in 2000. While raising our two daughters, Abby and Karly, I stayed involved with competitive volleyball by refereeing and coaching club in Tennessee, Austin and the DFW area. Now they are ages 20 and 17 and we are definitely a volleyball family. Our evenings, weekends and vacations all rotate around their club volleyball schedules and the sport we love. I was blessed to coach at Central High School as the varsity assistant from 2014-2016 and at Hillwood Middle School from 2017-2018, and I’m thrilled to be back at Central High School!
It is dream come true to celebrate and guide these young athletes through the victories and trials of high school. I strongly believe the character and skills athletes develop in the gym are life altering lessons students will carry with them the rest of their lives, and I am thrilled to be a part of that development here at Central High School.”
