Fort Worth, TX - As the Charger Tennis program wrapped up the fall portion of their season, the future looked bright and when the All-District teams were announced earlier this week, that bright future was acknowledged and confirmed by the other coaches within the district. Seven Chargers received All-District honors, led on the boys side by sophomores
Hans Hendrick and
Zeus Celedonio.
Hendrick, in his second season of varsity tennis, was named First Team All-District, while
Zeus Celedonio was given the prestigious honor of being name District 4-6A Newcomer of the Year.
Celedonio wasn't the only charger to receive a District Player of the Year honors, as
Eric Denis and
Meredith Munoz were named as Co-District Sportsmanship Players of the Year.
Three Chargers were named to the All-District Second Team. Again, it was another sophomore receiving honors as
Petr Sakharov was named to the singles 2nd Team.
The senior doubles duo of
Christina Baxter and
Asia Rhodes were named to the doubles 2nd team while both were also named to the honorable mention singles team. Baxter is coming off the back of 2022-23 season where she claimed the District Doubles title with
Pauline Celedonio, sister of Zeus, and current player at Texas Wesleyan University.

Honorable mention honors also went to yet another sophomore in
Ethan Kamau for his singles play. He was joined by
Zeus Celedonio who also claimed honorable mention honors for his double play with Hendrick.
The Chargers had an incredibly young lineup this fall, with five of the eight varsity players being either a freshmen or sophomores, and with four of those five receiving some sort of All-District honor, it's safe to say more success is just around the corner.
For the Lady Chargers, the lineup is a little more mature as they carry three seniors (Baxter, Munoz, Rhodes) and they'll be looking to close out their careers at Central with a bang when the season resumes after the new year.
The schedule for the spring season is still in the works, but is likely to be finalized some time in the next few weeks. Be sure to check www.centralchargerathletics.com in the coming weeks.
