Aledo, TX - As the Non-District portion of the Chargers schedule wraps up in just a few weeks time, Head Coach Gerald Sledge's young squad are starting to develop their identity. With only three varsity players and 11 percent of their 2022-23 offense returning, and an incredibly difficult non-district schedule, the Chargers have had to learn and work through adversity. After picking up just one win in their opening seven contest, the Chargers have matured quickly, and under the tutelage of Sledge and the rest of his staff, Central has won four of their last six.
Most recently, the Chargers finished third in the Aledo Moritz Classic. After winning their thrilling tournament opener against North Central Texas Academy 51-50, Central faced off against Fort Worth Brewer for the second time in a week. The Chargers would fall to the Bears, who would ultimately defeat the hosts Aledo and be crowned tournament champions. In the 3rd place contest, the Chargers offense exploded for a season high 79 points, led by senior Jordan Blair's 29 points as they defeated Richland 79-47.
With their district opener against Eaton just over a week away, the Chargers are set to face off against a South Grand Prairie (13-3) team that defeated fellow KISD program Keller 67-57 and and a Birdville (9-3) team that's won 6 of their last seven, including a 54-52 victory over Eaton.
Seniors Jordan Blair and Sean Mays have led the Charger offense, with Blair averaging 16.2 points per game while Mays is averaging just over 11 points per contest. Sophomore Jaden Jackson has reached double digit scoring on three occasions for the Chargers including a career high 18 points in last months overtime loss at Grapevine and is averaging 5 points per game.

Scouting The District
A little over a month into the season, it's no surprise the 6A-District 4 is looking like one of the strongest in the state. Southlake Carroll and V.R. Eaton both sit with just three loses on the year, while Keller and Fossil sit just behind with four. The Chargers will open up their District campaign in Haslet December 19 when they take on the Eaton Eagles at 1:30PM.
