Fort Worth, TX - When the Charger Football staff made the decision to put together a voluntary trip to support the CHS Band last week, they figured two buses would be plenty to make the short trip to KISD Stadium. Little did they know that would be nowhere near enough as over 100 players signed up to show their support to the band that's always there for them on Thursday and Friday nights. To make more room, upperclassman carpooled over and staff scrambled to get more food to feed the group with a never-ending appetite.
With over 85% of the varsity team in attendance, Head Football coach Mike Sports loved seeing Charger Pride demonstrated first hand saying "as a program, we break every huddle with the cry of
'Charger Pride' and it's actions like this that show our community that we have young men with quality character who follow up their words with actions."
Central Principal Dr. Liz Russo also commended the programs support on social media when she posted "This is world class! Love seeing our football boys supporting the band who shows up every game for them. So proud to be a part of our Charger culture!"
With the Chargers on their bye week, it created the perfect opportunity for this team building activity where the program enjoyed a meal from corporate sponsor
Raising Cane's prior to heading over to the KISD Band Expo. With assistance from KISD Director of Fine Arts, Kim Bland, the Chargers had a section of seating reserved for them and it was absolutely necessary as the stands at KISD Stadium were packed.
The Chargers return to action when the make the trip north to NISD Stadium to take on the V.R. Eaton Eagles
(3-2, 1-1). After dropping their district opener on the road against Keller 36-20, Eaton picked up it's first district win of the season with a 38-21 victory over Fossil Ridge. Kickoff is set for 7:00PM Friday.
