Lubbock, TX - Fresh off setting the program record in the 5000 Meter, Senior
Angelina Vidal wrapped up a tremendous Charger Cross Country career earlier this week in Lubbock when she placed 26th at the UIL Regional Meet. While the time was slower than her 18:14 she ran last week in the District Meet, the course at Mae Simmons Park is significantly more challenging, included a massive hill at the very start of the course, compared to a very flat and fast Bob Jones Park course.
The qualification process for the state meet is somewhat complicated, as runners whose teams qualify for the state meet don't take up individual qualification spots. The way the race played out, Vidal would have needed to finish 18th to claim the final individual state qualification spot, claimed by Plano West's Kennedy Hodges who came in at a time just over 20-seconds faster than Vidal.
As Vidal's Charger career comes to the end, the program also bids farewell, to seniors
Rory Golden and
Hayley Waller. Looking towards next year, current junior
Jaya Conmy will undoubtedly be the top runner and will be followed closely
Reese Murphy and
Logan Atkinson.
