Tight games have been the trademark of this edition of the Lady Chargers softball team in district play and Central has thrived under the pressure, going 3-1 in games decided by two or fewer runs. Additionally, no team in the district has played the undefeated Keller Indians closer than Central, when they fell by just three runs on the road earlier this month.
As Central continues to make history and build the best season in program history, the five Charger seniors have played a key role and continued to do the same Tuesday night as
Morgan Crandall and
Kirsten Wilkinson each registered doubles while
Abby Baglin played a key role catching for Cornell in her crucial pitching performance.
Head Coach Brittany Scarafiotti was thrilled with the Lady Charger performance saying "We couldn't be more proud of the grit and fight in our program; scratching out a win against a tough Timber team to close out the first round of district." Scarafiotti added the the result was "a testament to the work our athletes have put in all year long to reach the big goals they've set. Last night's win was a full-team effort and we had athletes step-up and take advantage of new opportunities, which is what it's all about. We are excited to head into the 2nd half with some momentum."
Next up for Central is a trip to Haltom City to take on the Buffaloes (2-9-1, 0-7). Central claimed a 5-0 victory over Haltom at Charger Field earlier this month. First pitch is scheduled for 7PM.
