Haslet, TX - The Lady Chargers Soccer team (7-4-3, 2-2) picked up a crucial district win on the road, defeating V.R. Eaton (6-4, 1-3) 4-1 this past weekend. Sophomore
Bella Martinez played a key role for the Chargers scoring two of Central's four goals. She was joined on the scorers sheet by Junior
Chloe Butler and Freshman
Kinsey Geasland.
While the Chargers are just four games into district play, Head Coach Lauren McMillan stressed the importance of picking up the road victory: "The win at Eaton was extremely important to keep us in playoff contention. The girl's battled through a physical game and due to their tenacity, we were able to successfully find the back of the net four times." McMillan added "our defense was solid, quick, and defended the attack well. Overall, we got the win and head into Tuesday knowing that a win against Byron Nelson would be huge for us."
With the recent ice storm, the Chargers found themselves in an incredibly difficult situation, having to play the Eagles just 15 hours after taking on the number one ranked team in the state and defending UIL Champions, Southlake Carroll (15-0, 4-0). While Central would suffer a 4-0 defeat, the Chargers could take great pride in the result as they managed to hold the Dragons, who have scored 100 goals in just 15 matches, to their second lowest goal output of the season. The lack of rest didn't show for the Lady Chargers as they battled through a fast paced and physical affair.
Central currently sits in a tie for fourth place with Timber Creek after four matches.

In past seasons, the district has often come down to a battle between Eaton, Timber Creek, and Central for the fourth playoff spot. Last season, the Lady Chargers and Timber Creek finished tied at the end of district play and faced off in a tie-breaker match. After playing to a 2-2 tie at the end of 80 minutes, the Falcons and Chargers went straight to penalty-kicks with Timber Creek prevailing 4-3 and claiming the fourth and final postseason birth.
The Lady Chargers will now turn their attention to Byron Nelson (8-2-2, 3-0-1) who currently sit in second place in the district. The Chargers will be looking for revenge after losing 2-1 at home last year to the Bobcat's and tying 2-2 in their second fixture in Trophy Club. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30PM at Charger Field.
