Fort Worth, TX - A first half goal by junior
Kaylee Nguyen handed first round UIL playoff opponent L.D. Bell (22-3) just their third loss of the year as the Lady Chargers (13-8-4) claimed the Bi-District title and punched their ticket to the second round of the UIL playoffs.
The Lady Chargers now advance to the area round and will take on Odessa Permian (10-9-3) on Tuesday in Abilene on the campus of McMurry University. Kickoff is schedule for 2:30 PM. The Panthers finished second in 6A Region 1 District 2 standings and picked up a very convincing 5-1 victory over El Paso Coronado (17-7) in their Bi-District final. The Lady Chargers and Panthers faced off in in the first weeks of the season, with the two sides playing to a 0-0 draw in the Richland tournament in early January. Prior to that matchup, the Panthers prevailed 2-1 in 2019, while the Lady Chargers claimed a 1-0 victory in 2018.
Permian was led by junior Anaí Lopez who had a hat-trick in the Coronado victory as well as senior captain Angeli Nunez.
