Fort Worth, TX - The Lady Chargers soccer program (12-8-4, 7-6-1) will be returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2018 courtesy of a 1-0 road victory over Timber Creek (11-9-2, 6-7-1). Central and Timber Creek are becoming quite familiar with facing off against one another with the season on the line. In 2021-22, the Falcons and Chargers finished the district standings tied for fourth, requiring a play-in game to see who would receive the districts fourth and final playoff birth. Timber Creek would ultimately extend their season, winning in a shootout 4-3. Turning the page to this year, the district standings were once again shaping up for a Falcons/Chargers showdown.
The Lady Chargers picked up a crucial win last month when the two sides faced off at Charger Field, as Central prevailed 2-1. Courtesy of that victory, Central went in to Friday nights contest with their destiny in their own hands, knowing the a win or a tie would secure a fourth place district finish, and extend their season.

Head Coach Lauren McMillan challenged her team to start the game fast and they did just that, dominating much of the first half, ultimately taking the lead in the 30th minute from a
Sydney Smith Goal. After getting around the edge on the left hand side, the Lady Chargers played an entry ball to Freshman forward
Kinsey Geasland who, after holding off a pair of Falcons, played a pass back to Smith. Smith took the shot first time and neatly tucked the ball past and outstretched Timber Creek keeper for the 1-0 lead.
While Timber Creek would apply some pressure in the second half, the Lady Charger back line stood firm, and Central was unlucky to not extend their lead on a few occasions. As the final seconds ticked down, a ruckus Charger crowd would countdown along with the Central bench and celebrate widely as time expired.
The Lady Chargers will face off against L.D. Bell (22-2, 13-1) in the Bi-District Final Friday, March 24th at Mustang Panther Stadium in Grapevine, with kickoff scheduled for 6PM. The Blue Raiders ran away with the 6A District 3 title, with their only loss coming in the regular season finale, a 3-0 loss to the Trinity Trojans. The loss was L.D. Bell's first since a 7-0 defeat to Prosper in the season opener on January 5th.
The Blue Raiders are led by senior Lia Santiago and freshman Aurora Creevy, who contributed on a combined 75 percent of L.D. Bell's 92 goals this season. Santiago tallied 24 goals with 10 assists, while Creevy added 15 goals with 20 assists.
L.D. Bell will be looking rewrite some history of their own. The Blue Raiders once again finished as Distract champions in 2021-22, receiving the number one seed, but, like the Lady Chargers, saw their season come to an end in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Timber Creek.
